Today in this post  I will share, harry potter and the goblet of fire book review. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth book in the Harry Potter literary series, written by British author JK Rowling in 2000. Before the book was published, she warned that one of the book's characters would die, leaving much speculation about who it might be.

After the somewhat more childish trilogy that are the previous three volumes, The Goblet of Fire ushers in a new era in J. K. Rowling's narrative by adopting themes and a darker tone. The size of the book also increases: the first three contained around 300 pages, while, since Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the books will be around 600.

In 2005 a film was made based on this book, directed by Mike Newell, the first English director to take over the saga. The film starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, with British actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Robert Pattinson, Brendan Gleeson and Miranda Richardson in the cast.

Harry Potter and the goblet of fire book plot summsry

The book begins when Harry Potter dreams of Frank Bryce, the former gardener of the Riddle family m Later in the summer, Harry, Hermione Granger, and the Weasley family travel to witness the Quidditch World Cup. There, the Death Eaters, Voldemort's vassals, terrorize everyone, capturing a family of Muggles and fleeing when they see the Dark Mark in the sky.

Albus Dumbledore announces during the welcoming banquet at Hogwarts that the school would be the site of the Triwizard Tournament, an interscholastic competition. One student from each of three schools of magic would be chosen by the Goblet of Fire to compete in the tournament.

The other two institutions of magic, the Beauxbatons Academy and the Durmstrang Institute, arrive at Hogwarts two months after the school year begins. The champions chosen by the Goblet of Fire are Fleur Delacour of Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum of Durmstrang, and Cedric Diggory of Hogwarts.

Mysteriously, Harry is also chosen, even though he had not entered his name. Ron Weasley is furious with him, since he thought that Harry had found a way to enter without having been told, and stops talking to him.

The new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, a former Auror and friend of Dumbledore. In class, he teaches and demonstrates to his students, illegally, the three unforgivable curses: imperius, which forces the victim to submit to the will of the perpetrator; cruciatus, a spell used to torture the victim; and the killing hex, avada kedavra.

Harry discovers that he is the only person who has ever survived the Killing Curse, which Voldemort had cast on him when he was a baby. The first task of the Triwizard Tournament has the dragons as its main challenge.

The first of the three Trials of the Triwizard Tournament consists of catching a golden egg protected by a dragon. Harry completes the task thanks to the previous help of Rubeus Hagrid and Moody. After the ordeal, Ron and Harry make amends, as Ron, seeing the mortal danger his friend was under, realizes that it was true that he had not entered his name in the chalice. .

Then, Minerva McGonagall surprises the students by informing them that there will be a Dance on Christmas Day. Harry asks Cho Chang to be her date. But she tells him that she was already engaged to Cedric Diggory. Finally, Harry attends with Parvati Patil, and Ron, after being rejected by Fleur Delacour, attends with Padma Patil (Parvati's twin sister).

Ron gets very angry when he sees that Hermione is Viktor Krum's partner, and is so jealous that he hurts Hermione and treats Krum badly. Harry goes out into the courtyard for a while with Ron, and they see Karkarof and Snape hastily talking about something that "is darker". And they also discover that Hagrid is a half-giant, causing him a fight with Madame Maxime, since she does not want to claim that she is a half-giant as well.

Months later, Harry decides to follow Cedric's advice and go to the Prefects' bathroom to discover the enigma of the egg. He opens it under the water, and hears the singing of some beings. Myrtle helps him, and Harry discovers that they are the mermaids of the lake, and that they took something of his.

The second test requires the recovery of something very important that had been taken from each champion and hidden in the Hogwarts lake. Ten minutes before the test, Dobby, the house elf, gives Harry gill weeds that allow him to breathe underwater.

Harry finds the four "important objects" of each participant of the tournament: Ron, Hermione, Cho Chang and Fleur's younger sister, Gabrielle Delacour. He is forced to rescue Gabrielle along with Ron since Fleur does not appear, so he loses the test but earns extra points for her "moral quality".

Rita Skeeter, a journalist for The Daily Prophet, writes many lies throughout the school year about Harry, Hagrid and Hermione, who has a friendly relationship with Viktor Krum . Skeeter arranges secret interviews with Slytherin students to have testimonies that support her stories, but no one can explain how she obtains such secret data.

At first, Harry suspects that Rita has an invisible cloak, but Hermione knows that Moody would be able to see through the cloak with her magic eye. Later, Harry thinks that the journalist might have bugged at school, but Hermione explains that the electricity doesn't work at Hogwarts because there is too much magic in the air.

About the end of the book, Hermione finally realizes Skeeter's plan: she is an unregistered Animagus who can transform into a beetle. Harry and Ron realize that there was a beetle in the places where things happened that Rita later discovered, and that the Slytherins were aware of everything.

Finally, Hermione catches Skeeter when it is in the form of a beetle, locks her in a jar and does not release her until the train arrives in London, under threat of informing the authorities of her status as an illegal Animagus if she writes stories about them again. .

One night, Harry and Krum bump into Barty Crouch, Sr., a member of the Ministry. Crouch is very upset and demands to see Dumbledore. Harry runs to find him, but when he returns to him, they find that Krum is unconscious and that Crouch has disappeared.

Harry discovers more details about the Crouch family when he sees one of Dumbledore's mementos in the Pensieve, a vessel used to store memories. In the memory, Death Eater Barty Crouch, Jr. is sent to Azkaban by his father, for helping Bellatrix Lestrange torture Neville's parents, Frank and Alice Longbottom, to the point of driving them insane.

The third and final test of the tournament consists of a maze full of magical obstacles. Harry and Cedric manage to get to the center of the maze together, helping each other. They reach the Cup and decide to take it at the same time, so that both are the winners.

However, the cup turns out to be a portkey or portal that transports them to an old graveyard in Little Hangleton, where they see Pettigrew and a deformed Lord Voldemort. Pettigrew kills Cedric immediately and ties Harry to the grave of Riddle, Voldemort's father. He then uses a grave bone, a few drops of Harry's blood, and his own hand severed from him to brew a magic potion that gives Voldemort a new body.

Voldemort rallies the Death Eaters and reveals that one of his vassals at Hogwarts had ensured that Harry entered the Tournament, won it, and then was taken to the graveyard. Harry tries to disarm Voldemort with the Expelliarmus spell at exactly the same time his opponent uses the Killing Hex. Since the magic wands are twins, the two spells collide and prevent each one from reaching its destination: there is a bond between them and Voldemort's wand begins to show the last spells that he had carried out, mostly murders.

The shadows of Voldemort's most recent victims appear in the graveyard, including Cedric, James Potter, and Lily Potter. The shadows protect Harry and allow him to escape, along with Cedric's body, back to Hogwarts, leaving behind an enraged Voldemort.

Harry, carrying Cedric's body, returns to the school grounds. Moody takes Harry by the arm and leads him into his office, where he reveals that he is Voldemort's vassal and tries to kill Harry. Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Minerva McGonagall stop him just in time, and then the headmaster gives Veritaserum, the potion of truth, to Moody, who is actually Barty Crouch, Jr. Crouch had escaped from Azkaban .

Cornelius Fudge, the Minister for Magic, arrives at Hogwarts but refuses to believe Dumbledore and Harry when they tell him that Voldemort had returned. While Harry is in the infirmary, Sirius arrives to see his godson, and gives Snape a handshake. Hermione, at that moment, catches a beetle, which turns out to be Rita Skeeter, the obnoxious journalist who tormented Harry all year by distorting her words in interviews.

Harry is declared the winner of the Triwizard Tournament and is awarded a thousand galleons as a prize. A few days later, Dumbledore gives a speech at the farewell banquet, mourning Cedric's death and telling everyone the truth about Voldemort. Back in London at Kin Station
